Automatic 2D-3D Image Matching Method for the Shoulder Joint Using Single or Dual Fluoroscopic Images

چکیده
INTRODUCTION Fluoroscopic image-model registration, using either a single image or dual images, has been widely used to measure in-vivo human joint kinematics, such as the knee, hip, spine and shoulder. The critical step of this technique is the registration of the 3D joint model to the 2D images. An automatic 2D-3D image matching method has been validated as a useful and efficient method for this procedure [1]. Although few studies have used fluoroscopy to examine human shoulder kinematics [2-4], it is unknown the feasibility of using single or dual fluoroscopic images to study the shoulder joint. We investigated the accuracy and repeatability of these methods for reproducing spatial shoulder joint positions.

Prediction of in-vivo Knee Joint Kinematics using a Statistical Shape Modeling
Introduction: Using computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) images to construct 3D knee models has been widely used in biomedical engineering research. Statistical shape modeling (SSM) method is an alternative way to provide a fast, cost-efficient, and subject-specific knee modeling technique. Further, 3D models can be used with a Dual-Fluoroscopic Imaging System (DFIS) to study joi...
متن کاملFiducial Registration from a Single X-Ray Image: A New Technique for Fluoroscopic Guidance and Radiotherapy
Fiducial registration is useful both in applications where other registration techniques have poor performance and for validation of new registration techniques. Registration of 3D CT or MR images to 2D X-ray images is particularly difficult, in part because automated contour extraction from 2D images is not yet well solved and in part because of the considerable computational expense in matchi...
متن کاملInferring 3D Kinematics of Carpal Bones from Single View Fluoroscopic Sequences
We present a novel framework for inferring 3D carpal bone kinematics and bone shapes from a single view fluoroscopic sequence. A hybrid statistical model representing both the kinematics and shape variation of the carpal bones is built, based on a number of 3D CT data sets obtained from different subjects at different poses. Given a fluoroscopic sequence, the wrist pose, carpal bone kinematics ...

Reconstruction of patient-specific 3D bone surface from 2D calibrated fluoroscopic images and a point distribution model is discussed. We present a 2D/3D reconstruction scheme combining statistical extrapolation and regularized shape deformation with an iterative image-to-model correspondence establishing algorithm, and show its application to reconstruct the surface of proximal femur. The imag...
